No car was more individual or sporting in character than the prewar chain driven Frazer Nash. It stemmed from an equally fascinating cyclecar, also of sporting character, the G.N. In this fascinating book, David Thirlby looks intimately at how these two makes came into being, how they were made as they were, the impact they made on their owners and their use and success in competition like the Alpine Trials of 1932, 1933, 1934. Thirlby sorts out the complex range of G.N. And Frazer Nash production and racing models, the various engines used in them: Anzani, Meadows, Blackburne, Gough, and the "specials" that were developed from them. Not a great many of these, fast, gearbox-less motor cars were made; yet many still race today. The car by car Register of every Chain Gang Frazer Nash produced, forms a valuable appendix to this authentic history of one of Britain's greatest sports cars; and the pictures Thirlby has chosen to illustrate his book are definitely for the enthusiast. Also referenced are Road Test publication dates from The Autocar, Light Car, The Motor and Motor Sport during the period 1925-1937.
