Delage Styling and Design - La Belle Voiture Francaise, is a celebration of Delage. Starting with the early years and progressing onto a chapter entitled Delage ‘On the race track’, there is an initial look at competition cars produced by the firm, such as the 1911 Coupe de l’Auto, the famous V12 engined 2LCV and the famous straight eight model created by Albert Lory. From this racing background, the book progresses onto the golden era when the extraordinary Delage chassis joined forces with the most distinguished stylists and coachbuilders of the age. It presents the styling and design of automobiles created between 1929 and 1953, the height of the "French Style" with the works of Henri Chapron, Marcel Pourtout, Carrosserie de Villars, Figoni & Falaschi, Fernandez & Darrin, A. Guillore, Carrosserie Franay, and Letourner & Marchand. Lavishly illustrated with contemporary and archival photographs of unique automobiles and lovely period drawings and sketches, along with driving impressions of the D8-120, the book also offers a record of Delage cars in competition during the period 1906-1949. In addition there are details of passenger / racing car production and specifications 1905-1949 and a guide to chassis numbers and year of production. A chronological account of the straight 8 Delage 1930-1939 complied by F.R. Hovell completes the publication which will no doubt increase the number of the marque's admirers.
