Why write a book about Tecno? Everything can be summed up in one word only - passion. The passion of all those who a long time ago gave a demonstration of how energy, creativity and total devotion to a project can be successful, even without economic support and modern day technology. Tecno forms part of this world and its history, typically Italian, is certainly a fascinating one: a small group of engineers led by the two brothers from Bologna, Luciano and Gianfranco Pederzani, had a meteoric rise in motor Sport from nothing and were so successful that in the space of just a few years, they rose from karting to Formula 1 via F850, Formula Ford, Formula France, Formula Atlantic, Formula 3 and Formula 2 during the period 1962-1973. More than thirty years later, just a few vogue memories and contradictory information remained of this enterprise, and the memories of all those people who were involved were growing fainter, to the point that everything to do with Tecno ran the risk of vanishing into oblivion. The same passion that fuelled the project also inspired the authors of this book, Giuseppe Bianchini and Paolo D’Alessio, to tell the history of Tecno, the men who created it, the engineers who helped it to grow and the drivers like Ronnie Peterson, Francois Cevert, Francois Mazet, Clay Regazzoni, Nanni Galli and Derek Bell who, with their victories, contributed to it becoming famous throughout the world, through the scrupulous search for never before published images, documents of the time and the stories of the main characters. A part of the mosaic that makes up the history of Italian racing cars has today taken shape, and for this we must thank Gianfranco Pederzani and all those who contributed to the creation of this super quality book.
